I'm doing my best not to take board advice from dudes who go over the falls sitting on their boards, as for baldy, well, I seen him get a few waves, but nothing that'd make me think he has any more clue about boards than you or me. I'm giving it a crack, I've done the custom thing with fairly evenly mixed results, Ric made some real good ones but he aint shaping at the moment, Sean Wilde had been a success board wise but I just get sick of the excuses leading up to getting a board 3 months after ordering it. I've always had a stiffy for takayamas since I had one 10 years ago and seeing the calibre of work that his stable of team riders has been able to produce over the years, to be fair the fact that it's machine shaped actually reduces the risk of it turning out a dog. But we'll see what happens.

what I want to know .. well couple of things
1. what fool rests a log like that on its pinny pin pin? 2. at the extreme right - last board visible in the rack ... get a squizz at the tail rocker on THAT - unless it's on its nose

yo lards ... definitely the twinnies - took it out again yesterday in the big stuff and with a trailer on had speed to burn and smooth as. turns so effortless and flowing - don't think that board will see the thruster setup on again .

didya buy it lardy?? if not you're welcome to have the green machine for knicks, its got a delam bubble from where my knee rubbed the deck and heat damage round the fin, and it's pretty heavy these days, but if ya wanna get on the nose in the knee high stuff it'll do the trick. It's just taking up space at my place and I was thinking of giving it away anyhow.

so.................. 9'6" x 23" x 3 1/8" v's 9'1" x 22" x 2 7/8" the change in length and volume so far very noticeable. weight seems to me to be on a par, without getting on the scales with each of them in turn, the 9'1" is full gloss and polish, the 9'6" not so, so weight seems much of a muchness under the arm between them both. the 9'6 obviously floats like a barge and paddles into 'em very easily, actually the first time I can recall since my footy days that I've sat on any kind of surfboard and most of my thighs have been out of the water! the float caught me off guard today wands and you would've loved to have seen it as I looked over the top of a 2'er which was folding over down the line, decided against it, but the board decided to take me over whilst sitting upright!!! performancey shape for a barge methinks? you thinks? did went well in some sideshore 2/3 low outgoing tide, lefts off the rocks at tow rag... haven't spent much time on it yet as the waves have been a bit larger for me to be trying such an increased size board with no hope of duckdiving it and having never done one of them roll over things baldy does with his... have always been able to duckdive my 9'1" in smallish conditions, tried it with the 9'6" and got a lesson about bouyancy!!! all in all will take a while to get used to, as did the 9'1" when I first got it, having been riding a really heavy, wood block tailed, triple stringered, flat as fuck, Egan 9'1" single prior to that. do recall when I got the Byrne 9'1" over 10 years ago struggling with it for a while after coming off the Egan and riding mostly larger shortboards pretty much exclusively back then, reckon this 9'6" could be the same. big arse Dion fin that was on it when I picked it up is coming off next time out and am going to stick my 7" dolphin on it to hopefully free it up a bit, as I think a combination of the extra length, pinny tail (i has always ridden rounded squares on longer boards), and the fin had me struggling to get it around, although that might be also because I ain't been surfing all that much in the last few months and when I has I've ridden the twinny or the 7'6"...... REALLY REALLY PUMPED to get back up the home country and get it in some peeling rights to see if I can get some tip time on it out off Hayden's, Salty, Sealy, or maybe up a bit further round Plomer, Big Hill, etc., etc.. and reckon it'll have me taking a few long weekends in the next few months to get up there. now there's 6 boards on me racks I built to take 4, was thinking about maybe offloading a couple and me missus reckons nah, keep 'em until me boys are ready to ride 'em and by that time they can ride 'em in the retro comps!
