Haven't even taken the side fin boxes out. All me spare cash has gone into repairing me car before the trip down south then what little is left is going towards the cash which will allow me to eat drink and have a bed in the Dolphin Pod.
But I will get the board fixed before Summer as that was the original plan. Small Summer wind swell slop............or as Balders will hint at lots of shouldery waves with no bazzas.

Well all the fin boxes are out. Used a hammer and chisel to take the rear one out and although not a huge mess was still an ugly result. For the side ones I set the depth on me circular saw to just go to the same depth as the boxes and ran it up the sides of em. The ends I used one of them tile drill bits and, very carefully, drilled out the ends. A bit of twisting and force with the multi grips and the boxes popped out nicely. Now to the shop to repair the holes, put a couple a sets of FCS fin plugs in and then I'll slap a couple a coats of enamel spray paint as well as a couple coats of clear and she'll be ready for the Summer slop.
Now for the repairs/plugs I'm gunna budget $250 and for the spray paint/tape for design purposes I'm gunna budget another $100. Anyone reckon I'm under doing meself in the budget dept. And by the way Wands please don't tell me to give it to Platty to fix cause I ain't got $750 available waaahhhaaahhhaaahhhaaa

If theres one thing Ive learnt from doing my own restos its this rug,
its fucken hard work and most people wouldnt bother for that reason.
Having done 2 of my own since the HotRoc, I realise that ya really need some experience and knowledge when it comes to the materials and how and when to use em, add to that its fucken messy, (theres sanding dust and overspray on every horizontal surface in my garage) bloody expensive, and ya almost never get it right on ya first pass, and when I finish the Henri (was hoping in time for Dolphin but theres not enough time for me to cure and polish the top clear coat) it wont look anywhere near as professional as what platty did with the Hotroc, IMHO he earned every cent that I paid him even though I understand that wont be seen as money well spent in the majority of peoples eyes.
I am keen to keep on the path to one day making my own boards, but until I get my own place with a shed specifically for that purpose I'll spare my fellow housemates the mess and stick to ding fixing.
As for ya kneelo/fish thing, making a mess is the easy part, makin it look pretty again will no doubt be harder than what you've imagined in your mind... you'll see... and FFS, get yaself some Q-cel and fix it yaself, or do what I did with one of my boards, get some foam off-cut from ya local shaper, cut and sand and shape it to fit the hole nicely then a little bit 4oz cloth double layered over the top, when the laminating is cured, sand it back to meet the existing board, making sure that you dont completely sand away the overlapping cloth, then filler over the repair and a fair way around the surrounding area, when thats cured sand and blend it all in.... bit of spray paint (lets face it its gonna look like shit so ya may as well pretend ya have some skills with a spray can) and JOB-DONE!!!

and ya dun need a shed, just make a horse with a coupla bits of pipe cemented into metal buckets and bodgy up a some sort of padded U at the top and shape away out the backyard on a windy day! and since the horse is only 2 buckets ya can stash that fucka anywhere
