dream on Wandy baby. twas 4-5 and pumping today and oh so glassy. couldn't make Wurts as I struggled to get out the door early enough but went Maroochy because I was training there today. and suprisingly most of the waves werent closeouts but big a-frame gems. got some crackers and got caught inside a couple of times so bad that I wondered whether I would get out again. but geez it felt good to go left again.

So... finally startin to go quiet up there hey?? Well there's a tops NE swell hittin down here at the moment, even though my local aint best suited to NE swell there was still plenty of brilliant waves this morning and the crowds had gone where the swell direction was better suited so it was perfect with the reduced crowd. I got a shit load of waves and I gotsta say I am farkin loving the Magic Wand MkII it has really revitalised my love for longer boards, it's aproper longboard IMO, not just a big shortboard, you look at the thing on the beach and its flat as, with not an edge in sight, yet I've been blown away by the way it's been handling not just size, but hollowness and even the tube, the thing is just so reassuring under foot, definitely a different feeling board when I first got on it, but now that I'm in tune with it I'm completely stoked - two big thumbs up Ric!! very happy, I don't think he noticed when I handed him the last of the cash I owed him the other day as I don't think he counted it, but I slipped him an extra $200 more than what he'd asked for for the MkI and MkII, he deserved it IMO, hopefully some of the sheep around the shop can see what the Magic Wand is capable of and throw some business Rics way. Together with not being in form this good for 5-6 years and feeling really surf fit having been off the durries since the new year and the almost continuous run of surfable days, 2009 is turning out to be pretty bloody good, I even cleaned up on both my club days the past two weekends running, its a nice feeling paddling out feeling confident that you're gonna do the surf justice. Looks like the waves will continue for a coupla days too. If you consider perfect, offshore, 5ft kegs quiet....yeah quiet.

this one went all by itself, I wasn't on the board... me thinks maybe epoxy laminates aren't all they are cracked up to be? or maybe the obeche stringer isn't doing its flex thing proper like? or more likely I'm just shit outta luck with surfboards this year LOL
I'm hoping it can be saved with save creative laminating, otherwise, that's it til after I get back from the USA...
hmmm... might have to unsheath the hotcroc for a spin tomorrow morning... I'm down to the 8-0 quad and the hotroc at the moment, the fish needs the nose filler and laminated and the skipp needs a new legrope plug as the current one is cracked at the top and one hefty wipe out would see the pin rip straight out. Hot Roc it is.

Hmmm, I don't think any amount of pulling my head out of my arse will change the fact that the Jye Burns board is simply put, one of the worst mals I have ever had the displeasure of riding, I'm sure I could spend the next year riding it and I would have the same opinion. It's a dog.
Back on topic: got some fuckin rippers on the quaddie this morning, the fin setup is sorted IMO; GX's in the back M7's in the front, I may try some AB1's or AB2's in the front down the track if the price is right, but I'm happy for the moment, the board is going brilliantly, swapping the fins from back to front sured it right up and it now cranks every which way...
Although I'm sure it would have been much bigger at the north facing beaches, DY still had some very tasty long walling smackable lefts and only a small mostly novice crew on it, I'd almost had my fill by 7am... stoked with the run of waves we've been having.

Damn!! Our quiet run continues.
Only 4-5ft, whistle clean, and barrelling it's tits off this morning.
Fucking boring too, on a bank on my own, with no-one to talk to.
