Only 6 people out at DY this morning, maybe the rain kept them away, obviously people don't like getting wet when they go surfing?? considering its going flat from this point forward you'd think people woulda been keen to nab it before it goes crap for the next 4-5 days... oh well, their loss I guess.
Kinda glad I was too late gettin my entrys in for the snowy comp this weekend, looks like being dismal surf conditions, I save $120 worth of entry fess and get to work saturday instead and make $150 cash in hand and still get two days off. win-win-win.

I surfed Port yesty for 3hrs. Wind a bit cross shore but it was that light it didn't matter. It was just a heap of shifting peaks but when you've got the bank to yourself who gives a toss. Nailed some good ones so I was happy. Surfed Easty this morn for 3hrs 30min. Scored some very nice waves. Was like sheet glass for a while and with the dark clouds it looked like a black and white picture. I'd mention the barrels I got but I'd be dismissed for lack of piccie evidence so I won't mention them. Both surfs were in the 3-4ft range. Like Wands said the rain scared the blown ins away cause there was me yesty and today there was only a handful of people. Mostly locals for a change.

rain doesn't make a difference when the water is still 21 degrees...

Today was good. 3 - 4' Nice SW offshore. Great first hour. Then not so consistent for the next hour then picked up again. Tomorrow should be a repeat. Here's hoping.

hmmm had resigned myself to a sleep in tomorrow, but looks like it could kick on for 1 more day at least with conditions set to be similar to this mornings but with a little more east in the swell, it will start turnin the lefts on... oh well, best get up for my 6am coffee from bacino bar anyway... the coffee is so good it compliments the surf perfectly, I look forward to that coffee almost as much as gettin a wave.
The amount of good waves I've had a DY this year already far outnumbers the whole of last year, its amazing just how different the sandbars can make, the last coupla weeks the beachie at DY has been on par if not better than the waves comin through the point... it has made up for a whole year of mediocrity last year.

you surf moff's today trev? Yep. And today (Thurs). High tide doesn't seem to be affecting it. Had a good couple of hours both mornings from 6.15. Hoping for one more day tomorrow.

Ok what's with the steamer? The water temp's still 21.
I scored another good round of waves this morn. Like Wands said a bit more east in the swell so the rights were faster than yesty which meant ya didn't come out of a lot of em. Was all good though.
Looks like tomorrow morn may still offer up some good ones and if the wind is SW as forecast the E/NE swell will be bigger at the southern ends. mmmmmmmmm where to go?

Ok what's with the steamer? The water temp's still 21. yeah fuck I don't need the full 3/2 thats for sure, alas it was gettin chilly with the early mornin air temps in my boardies and top, a springy would do but I don't have one, either that or a 2mm steamer... yeah the water is still nice and by the time I get out of the surf and peel of my wetty, well it lives up to it's name as I am literally steaming as I take it off.

LOL, I been surfing an average of 6 hours a week lately (not bad when ya consider I can't surf Monday morn due to 8am meetings, and I cant surf saturday coz I work and I can rarely be bothered on Sunday)... its enough, though some mornings I wish I could stay in for another half an hour, beleive it or not, it's only another two weeks til winter solstice, so surfs will be shorter for the next two weeks and then it'll start to get light earlier again... I really can't see the ocean temp dropping much below 18c this winter, maybe low end of 17? fuck if it's almost winter solstice and it's still 20-21 in the water, in fact today is the first day its gone under 21.... still, theres obviously more at play than just the positioning of the sun so we'll have to wait and see.
