picked my current turntable up from vinnies....$25 plus then spent $30 for a new needle and I was away....a much better turntable than them el-cheapo ones they sell at JB Hi-fi and the likes.... got a couple of cheapos that go very very good, one in particular is an all in one pioneer unit from late 70's I'd guess, pristine condition, does very very good quality recordings of record to cassette (not that thats very impressive these days) with fully adjustable levels to get the recording right and at a nice volume, just needed a new drive belt, $10 from church fete, original stylus and cartridge still working fine, not that it matters as the cartridges are interchangeable with my "good" turntables, my "good" tuntables being $850 each Technics SL1200 MkIIs, the industry standard and leader since the late 70s, I have two of em, dont use em much these days, but cant bring myself to move em, they just look so nice, I'll take some pics later.

Balds mate, as you and I well know everything in this country is a rip. Sadly, this place is just pitiful and today I met a guy at the market who used ta live in Jap. First thing he said to me was "How fargin expensive is everything here?" "And old!" hahahahaha Right now Im plotting me next move. Up 60k on the market over the last 3 months, 4 properties, Im lucky. But ya know, everyone should be doin ok. We won the war, we have supposedly strong democracies, but the mantra from the top down is rip everyone off and you'II get my respect and admiration. That makes me sick alone. Ahhhhh, wheres that next beer. Gaz_b, keen for some carnage on da points tammoz?

went to buy 'Back in Black' today, twas expensive for such old stuff (most 'new' cds of old stuff are 10 - 15 bucks, the acca dacca was $27!) so I thought I'd come back to you lot and ask what acdc i should be reachin for? so what do ewes suggest? Baaaaack in black?
instead I bought the Sabbath latest release for the 2007 concert series: 'The Dio Years' and I also bought 'Van Halen, 1984' fuck 'Jump' and 'Panama', the gold is in the apparent b-grade tracks.
I think I'm currently in love with heavy lead guitar, the 'cock rock' and 70/80s metal is prime real estate for it.
I'm on dial up at home so I wont look for it for you, but maybe go to youtube and see if you can get hold of Dios live version of Sabbaths "Children of the Sea" tis the shiznit, I guarantee.

fark wands
back in black fur sure, though if ya aint got no acca dacca a grounding in the bon scott gear is good, you can hear the progression until it hits its peak (imho) with back in black.
I wouldna go no earlier than Van Halen 1, there is glimpses, but again ya've gone to the top shelf with that one.
Ya'll be lookin for deep purple, dokken, Richie Blackmoor's Rainbow, santana et al next.
Mate I can do a dvd chock full o goodies if ya want. just let us know.

well Scarps....gotta disagree with ya on AC/DC....for sure BIB is the best Johnson Album....but I'd be callin' Let There Be Rock their best alltime.....with tracks like Let There Be Rock, Dog Eat Dog and Whole Lotta Rosie it's hard ta beat for knock 'em down, drag 'em out raw bones rock........plus.....of course.....I'm a Bon Scott tragic I'd add ta scarps list any Led Zeppelin (except Coda and maybe Presence), Buffalo (Aussie 70's metal band if ya can find 'em) and maybe even Uriah Heep (Look At Yourself and Demons and Wizards) although I'd listen to 'em first ta see if ya like 'em... www.youtube.com/watch?v=F4AgMMWKiT8www.youtube.com/watch?v=zoHfk2Im9Kswww.youtube.com/watch?v=ImlxitnJq3w....with Deep Purple the ones I rate the best are In Rock, Machine Head and Made In Japan....
